Everyone taking the test must register before the start of the test. The length of this procedure will depend on the number of people taking the test. Make sure that you arrive at the testing site no later than 30 minutes before the scheduled test appointment.
Please note that you are not allowed to take the following items into the testing room: purse, briefcase, jacket, scarf, cell phone, calculator, tissues, food or drinks, watches, etc. You can store you personal belongings in a locker in the entrance area.
Exam duration
The exam is approximately four hours, including breaks:
- Analytical Writing Section – 1 essay – 30 minutes
- Integrated Reasoning – 12 questions – 30 minutes
- Quantitative – 37 questions – 75 minutes
- Verbal – 41 questions – 75 minutes
Breaks
The GMAT exam includes two, eight-minute breaks: one after Integrated Reasoning and one after the Quantitative section. Breaks are optional – the candidate may elect to skip one or both breaks. You may take an unscheduled break at any time. However, the exam timer will not stop and no extra time will be added to the section affected by an unscheduled break. To take a break, please raise your hand for the test administrator’s assistance.
